今天（4月12日）早上，北京市監獄醫院院長給胡佳母親打電話，口頭通知：上週五（9號）胡佳已經押回監獄，胡佳肝上長的是血管瘤，肝硬化病情不符合保外就醫規定，不能保外就醫，3月份發高燒腹瀉診斷結果是“亞臨床甲亢”。

我對監獄方口頭轉述的消息抱有顧慮。沒有衡量肝硬化病人身體狀況最重要的檢查指標的報告：乙肝五項和病毒載量。為甚麼？

隨即我與北京市監獄獄政科聯繫，要求提供胡佳全面檢查報告的書面文件，獄政科工作人員當時拒絕。

4月8日，我們在北京市監獄與監獄醫院院長、獄政科工作人員及保外就醫工作負責人談話時，沒有任何跡象顯示胡佳第二天會出院。8日下午我公開胡佳住院的情況，並呼吁立即保外就醫。

2009年5月12日我為胡佳向監獄提交保外就醫的申請，答復是不能保外就醫。
2010年4月8日提交的保外就醫申請，今天口頭答復是：胡佳肝硬化病情不符合保外就醫規定，不能保外就醫。

從2009年5月份以後，胡佳的所有醫學檢查書面報告，監獄方都不提供給家屬，僅僅口頭通知家屬及胡佳檢查結果。2006年胡佳失蹤41天後胡佳第一次體檢的檢查報告被作假，以致延誤胡佳肝硬化病情的治療。考慮到這些情況，我非常擔憂。

2009年1月，因身體產生抗藥性，胡佳停用了抗病毒藥物拉米夫定。此後監獄為胡佳提供的藥物是“水飛薊賓葡甲胺片”（湖南協力藥業有限公司生產）。

我要求胡佳為自己做健康日記，在家信中，我們發現胡佳的身體狀況持續惡化。胡嘉常年感冒無法康復，經常腹部絞痛、隱痛，腹瀉，食慾不振，低燒，體重下降。肝硬化病情非常不穩定。3月30日胡佳因持續高燒、腹瀉、肝上長直徑約3釐米的不明物體入住北京市監獄管理局中心醫院。

我的訴求：
1. 無論何種形式，胡佳必須早日回家治療、療養，以免病情持續加速惡化；
2. 胡佳在押期間，為胡佳調整監捨、提供合理的營養膳食、適合病人療養的作息安排，不再要求胡佳從事任何體力勞動。
3. 監獄方向家屬及胡佳提供完整的醫學檢查報告書面文件。

Zeng Jinyan: Demand for the immediate release of the full details of Hu Jia’s medical tests

This morning, the warden of the Beijing prison hospital treating Hu Jia made a phone call to his mother, informing her that Hu was transferred back to his prison on the morning of April 9 and that the vascular tumor found on Hu’s liver and his liver cirrhosis do not meet the medical standards which would allow him to be released on medical grounds. The cause of his diarrhea and fever in March has been diagnosed as “subclinical hyperthyroidism".

The verbal update from the prison leaves me greatly worried. No tests were conducted for the five indices of liver cirrhosis or for viral load, and I want to know the reason.

I contacted the Political Affairs Division at Beijing Prison and demanded they release the results of Hu’s medical tests in full, to which the person I spoke to refused.

In our April 8 conversation with the wardens of Beijing Prison and the prison hospital, as well as Political Affairs Divison personnel and people responsible for approving release of prisoners to seek medical treatment, no indication whatsoever was given that Hu Jia would be released from hospital the following day. That afternoon, I released the details of Hu Jia’s state of health and demanded his immediate release on medical grounds.

On May 5, 2009, I made my first application to the prison for Hu Jia to be released on medical grounds, which was met with refusal. On April 8, 2010, I resubmitted the application, and the verbal response received today was: Hu Jia’s liver cirrhosis does not qualify him for release on medical grounds, and he cannot be released to seek medical treatment.

Since May 2009, Hu Jia’s family has been consistently denied access to all results of medical tests which Hu has undergone, with results to the tests only being made known to his family verbally. Going back to 2006, the results from Hu Jia’s first medical test following his 41-day disappearance were falsified, resulting in treatment for Hu Jia’s liver cirrhosis being delayed. In consideration of all of the above, I am now deeply worried.

In January 2009, due to his body’s resistance, Hu Jia went off antiretroviral treatment with Lamivudine and began taking “Silybin Meglumine" (Hunan Xieli Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd.) supplied by the prison.

I told Hu Jia to begin keeping a health diary, and from his letters home we began to see his health condition worsen. Hu was sick throughout the year, frequently suffering from abdominal cramps and dull pain, diarrhea, loss of appetite, low-grade fever and weight loss. His liver cirrhosis became extremely unstable. On March 30, due to prolonged high fever, diarrhea and the appearance on his liver of an unknown growth 3 centimeters in length, Hu Jia was admitted to Beijing Prison Authority Hospital.

My demands are:

1. Regardless of how it is done, Hu Jia must be returned home soon to receive treatment, recover, and to prevent his condition from continuing to worsen;
2. Hu Jia is to be given alternate accommodation for the remainder of his term, provided with an appropriate nutritional diet, given proper time to recover, and is not to be made to engage in any further labour-intensive work;
3. Prison authorities are to provide Hu Jia’s family with the complete set of documents regarding Hu Jia’s medical test results.
